Sweet Cinnamon Biscuits

In the mood for a cinnamon roll, but don’t have the time?

Then you need to try this recipe!

These cinnamon biscuits are one of our family’s favorites. I am excited to share these with you because they are so quick to whip up compared to making yeast rolls.

These biscuits will disappear from your table as quickly as it took to prepare them!

Sweet Cinnamon Biscuits

Ingredients

4 cups of sifted all-purpose flour

2 Tablespoons baking powder

2 teaspoons salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1-1/2 cups farm fresh milk

1 stick butter, softened

3/4 cup brown sugar (or more)

1 teaspoon cinnamon (or more)

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda in a medium bowl and mix well. Stir in vegetable oil. Add milk and stir just until blended.

  2. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Roll dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. Spread butter over the dough. Cover the buttered dough with brown sugar and then sprinkle cinnamon on top.

  4. Roll up rectangle, starting from one long side and pinch seam to seal.

  5. Cut the roll into 1-1/2 inch slices. Arrange the slices in a greased baking pan. Bake at 400 degrees until lightly browned, about 15-20 minutes.

While the cinnamon biscuits are baking, make a white glaze by whisking together 2 cups of powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, and 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk. (For a thicker icing, use more sugar and less liquid.) Spread or pour immediately over baked biscuits.

Serve with a big glass of ice-cold milk!
